Do you have a question about Mendo Digital or what’s involved in optimizing your online presence? Following are answers to our customers’ most frequently asked questions (FAQ). If you don’t see your question answered below, please let us know.
Optimization
What do you mean by “optimization”?
Optimization is the process of making a website as effective as possible. Optimizing your website doesn’t mean just setting up a website or making it look pretty, but rather, more importantly, making sure that it’s functional so that it works as you intend it to. This way, you can achieve your sales/business goals.
Why should I fill out an image’s ALT field?
For accessibility as well as SEO reasons. People who are visually impaired use software that announces what’s in the images. For SEO, keywords in the ALT field assist in gaining a better SEO value. Also, if a page doesn’t load, the text you entered in the images’ ALT fields will display, allowing visitors to understand what the images represented.
How can I find out if my site has been indexed? And which pages have been indexed?
Open a Web browser and type “site:www.YourWebsite.com” (substituting your website link for the “YourWebsite” placeholder) in order to find the pages on your site that are indexed.
Payment
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, and checks.
Which debit cards can I use?
We accept the following debit cards: all Visa and Mastercard logo debit cards.
Do you accept cash, money orders, or C.O.D.?
We’re unable to accept these forms of payment.
Pricing, Promotions, and Discounts
Why don’t you display your prices?
Mendo Digital doesn’t have a “one size fits all” factory-type process. We customize our services and prices according to our customers” needs and specifications. We can, however, spread out payments to make our services as affordable as possible.

Personal information is information about you that’s personally identifiable (like your name, address, email address, or phone number) and that’s not otherwise publicly available.
Why do you ask for my email address? Will I get spam emails after I give it to you?
Providing us with your email address means that we can reply to your inquiry. We won’t send you spam emails, and we won’t sell or give your email address to anyone else.
SEM
What is SEM?
SEM stands for search engine marketing, and is a paid way to get more potential customers to go to your website. Essentially, you pay a certain amount to a search engine (e.g., Google) each time someone clicks on your ad, according to an ad spending budget and other criteria you (or your digital marketing agency) set up.
What is PPC?
PPC stands for pay per click or pay per call. It’s the same as SEM; you pay when people click on your ad or call you from the ad.
What is CPC?
CPC stands for cost per click.
How do you do SEM?
Currently, Google Ads is the most popular paid search platform. Other SEM platforms are Bing Ads and Yahoo Search Ads.
SEO
What is SEO?
SEO is the acronym for search engine optimization. It’s a process that comprises actions you can take to get your website to appear higher in search engine results, thus increasing traffic to your website.
What is the difference between organic and paid search?
Organic search results display – for free – in search engines, and you use SEO to improve your website’s organic search. Paid search results are ads that display at the top or bottom of search engine pages and are designated with “AD” in tiny print; you use PPC for paid search.
What is a sitemap?
A sitemap is simply a list of all the pages on your website. Search engines use sitemaps as reference for the content you want to be available in search results pages.
What is robots.txt?
The robots.txt file is simply a page of (unformatted) text that tells search engines what information on your website you’d like to have them crawl and index. To see your robots.txt file, go to “YourWebsite/robots.txt.”
What are keywords?
Keywords are the search terms that prospective customers use to look for the products or services you offer. You need to do keyword research to determine which keywords to target.
If using keywords is good, can I put as many keywords as possible in each page on my site?
No, don’t! This isn’t considered to be a best practice; not only will it not help you with your SEO, but Google considers it “keyword stuffing” and may penalize you for it.
What is a meta description?
A meta description tells search engines and the people using them what various pages on your website are about. Each page on your website should have a meta description and should include the primary keyword/keyphrase you’ve selected for that page.
How many internal links should I put in my content?
For good SEO value, you should have at least one internal link (e.g., your “Contact Us” page).
How many external links should I put in my content?
For good SEO value, you should have at least one external link that goes to an authoritative website (e.g., American Marketing Association, Washington Post, Wikipedia).
What is crawling? And what is indexing?
Crawling applies to search engines looking at and assessing the content on your website. Indexing refers to the content that will display in search engine results as long as it has at least an adequate amount of SEO.
How soon can I can get on the 1st page of search engine results?
Whoa! Have you checked to see how many other websites are competing against you for the same sweet spot? We cannot guarantee that you’ll get onto the 1st page of search engine result pages (SERPs), but you should see an improvement in rankings within a month. More improvements will be evident in 3 months, and so on. The longer you work on your SEO value and continue producing quality content the likelier it is that you’ll eventually attain your placement goal.
Do I need to hire someone for SEO or can I do it myself?
You can definitely do the SEO yourself, but it will take you some time to read up on it and learn SEO best practices. Or you could look online for free webinars (we recommend SEMrush Academy) or take intensive paid courses (we recommend The Content Factory). However, if you want to implement SEO now rather than in the nebulous future, you might want to contact Mendo Digital to do it for you… and get the results you want!

We also report fraud to the fraudster’s Internet service provider (ISP) for action under their “acceptable use policies.” We may also initiate civil action against them.
Do I need HTTPS to show that I have a trustworthy website?
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) validates that a website encrypts data sent and received between a person’s computer and that site. It’s also one of the (many) factors that helps increase your site’s SEO value.
